"Moscow Center for University teaching of Jewish civilization “Sefer” was founded in August 1994. The field of Jewish studies in the FSU is relatively new but is undergoing rapid growth. The establishment of the Moscow Center “Sefer” affiliate with the International Center for University teaching of Jewish civilization in Jerusalem and funded by the AJJDC was long-planned for Jewish studies to develope in the most productive and qualitative manner.
“Sefer” represents a non-profit union desinied to coordinate the process od Judaica teaching at different institutions of higher Jewish learning including state and private universities and colleges, as well as various Judaica Departments, Chairs or sub-faculty within them.
At present the “Sefer” includes more than 300 faculty and scholars from all over the FSU who are busy in the research or teaching in the field of Jewish Studies."
