"The Mordechai Anielewicz Center for the Study and Teaching of the History and Culture of Jews in Poland was established in 1990 on the initiative of Jacek Fliderbaum, born in Warsaw and now living in Israel. For many years the Center was headed by Prof. Jerzy Tomaszewski, who now provides it with his assistance. The Center operates within the organizational framework of the Institute of History, University of Warsaw.
The Center offers a two-year specialization studies in “The History and Culture of Jews in Poland” which are addressed not only to the students of the Institute, but also other faculties of the University of Warsaw. The specialization covers classes in Jewish languages (120 hours of Hebrew and Yiddish) and 240 hours of lectures and colloquia.
At present the Center’s staff consists of three people: Jolanta Żyndul, Anna Michałowska-Mycielska and Regina Gromacka. It regularly cooperates with Jacob Weitzner, Alina Molisak and Nili Amit. There are also classes taught by invited guest scholars."
