Steiner Summer Yiddish Program

If you know current college students who want to begin or continue studying Yiddish, NOW is the time to tell them about the Yiddish Book Center’s intensive Steiner Summer Yiddish Program. Now in its fourth decade, the Steiner Program is a seven-week, tuition-free, accredited program in Yiddish language and culture.

The deadline for applications is February 10!

About the program:

  • Students who haven’t studied Yiddish can apply for our beginner track.

  • Students who have completed a year of Yiddish (or who’ve attended the Steiner Program in the past) can apply for ourintermediate track.

  • Both tracks include 3 hours/day of language instruction, and an array of Yiddish cultural programs, including film screenings, workshops, concerts, and impromptu social gatherings.

  • Beginner students also take a daily culture class.

  • Intermediate students help Yiddish Book Center staff with ongoing projects, and receive a $1,000 stipend and free housing.

  • This is a rigorous, fast-paced program; students are advised to take the courses for academic credit.

  • Program dates are June 8-July 25, 2014.
