Apply by February 1!

The Steiner Summer Program at the Yiddish Book Center offers college students a tuition-free, seven-week immersion in Yiddish culture. The goal of the program is to provide a new generation with Yiddish language literacy; substantive knowledge of the history, literature and culture of Jews in central and Eastern Europe and beyond; and practical models for preservation, research, translation, and artistic expression.

Each student will participate in two required courses, with undergraduate college credit awarded through the University of Massachusetts. Limited housing subsidies are available, based on need. The Steiner Summer Program runs from Sunday, June 12 to Friday, July 29, 2011, and is open to all full-time university students. Please note: Students who are not enrolled in a degree-granting program as of January 1, 2011 are not eligible."
