The Yiddish Festival Leeuwarden has been taking place since 2008. It offers a week long of workshops in various aspects of Yiddish culture; music, dance and language.

In addition a symposium will be held entitled "The world of Yiddish and other small languages" in which Yiddish will function as an example to discuss the position and preservation of threatened languages and questions about language and identity. Speakers include Dovid Katz, Wout van Bekkum, Hilde Pach, Justus van de Kamp en Tjeerd de Graaf.
